Sunny Day Gets Boost From BrightStart
Saturday May 6th was the big day at Lake Eola in Orlando!
Make ‘m Smile 2023, sponsored by Nathaniel’s Hope, drew a massive crowd of happy guests, families and friends.
Now in its twenty-first year, the annual party celebrating kids with special needs has traditionally been held on the first Saturday in June. The date coincides with the June 6th birthday of Nathaniel Timothy Kuck, whom the event commenorates.
However, over the years, heat and severe weather led the organization to reconsider and move the event to the first Saturday in May. Judging from the response on Saturday, it appears the change went over quite well.
It was a perfect day at the park! Sunny with just enough breeze, and the BrightStart tent was situated in a nicely shaded area. BrightStart team members took signs and flags to the main sidewalk to direct traffic to our dedicated face painters, and everyone was busy distributing stickers.
The event is always something of a family reunion for BrightStart patients and families, and this year was no exception. We were so fortunate to visit with several of our growing and thriving former patients, some now in their teens! Many of our current patients and families also stopped in to make the day so much fun.

Special thanks to our tireless face painters, Claudia and Evelyn. While Claudia has been part of our BrightStart Make ‘m Smile family for years now, this was Evelyn’s first time with us at the event. We’re looking forward to seeing her again!
