Equine Therapy Keeps BrightStart Kids Stable
BrightStart Sanford’s Friday got off to a gallop with a visit from Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures.
The visit was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Sanford Breakfast Rotary, visiting BrightStart Sanford for the first time.
While this is their first visit to BrightStart, it’s not the first rodeo for the Honey Team, who know their way around special needs patients. The nonprofit organization brings therapy horses to many Central Florida facilities, including hospitals, for patients of all ages.
Founder and Trainer Mary Rose Gullet along with Handler Lisa introduced Ninja to the patients. After some expected uncertainty, nearly all the children warmed up to the ever-calm Ninja.
Now for some random but interesting numbers: Ninja is one of nine therapy horses on the Honey Team.
Sanford has two Rotary clubs: The Breakfast Club and the Lunch Bunch. You can learn more about the Breakfast Club here.
Very special thanks to Mike and the sponsorship of the Sanford Breakfast Rotary. Thank you to our new friends Mary Rose, Lisa and Ninja!
