Sanford Patients to the Rescue for Spring Break

BrightStart Sanford started their Spring Break Tuesday with a BAM! POW! WHOOSH!

Our friends from the Guardians of Justice took time out of their busy respective universes to visit with patients.

Increasing the superhero cred, Sanford also welcomed Dr. Karina Darby DO from AdventHealth to join the party. Dr. Darby is a resident currently seeing patients in Winter Park. Her first exposure to the BrightStart PPEC program was a busy one!

The trio of heroes were just in time to assist and encourage super-patients in a variety of activities. The entire center had been transformed into a superhero obstacle course. Was it the diabolical work of leprechauns, slighted that St. Patrick’s Day was not the main theme for Tuesday? We may never know.

*“Who puts baby animals on a ladder? Seriously, who does that?”*

*A suspicious map found at the center. Leprechauns? Could be.*

The emerald color was well represented, however, with the Green Lantern in attendance along with Mulan, to help our young super-patients navigate the fun.

Thank goodness also for the incredible BrightStart nursing and therapy staff, who shed their mild-mannered identities and participated in the many tasks.

If you think your day is busy, this is just some of what these super patients had to contend with:

Ring of Fire Hero Leap
Balance across the Lava Pit
Navigate and contain dangerous elements
Secure Mutant Molecules
Get giant Kryptonite blocks to a safety vault
Crawl through the Lazer Grid Maze

And all of this to rescue a collection of animals, stranded atop a ladder!

But a look up the ladder brought the gaze of the super-patients to another plight: a trembling mouse stuck up a giant ladder! It was for this astounding rescue that the Green Lantern stepped up (yeah, we did that), whereupon he was showered with applause, praise and … silly string.

*No slackers in this Spring Break – babies make the obstacle course, too!*

*“Yeah, the Superboy thing. I get that a lot.”*
